Marli Oliviera - Artist
Marli de Oliveira Thiffault was born on a farm in Brazil, where she learned a wide variety of skills from her parents and grandparents. Her father, a native Indian descendant from Brazil, knew a great deal about local horticulture, and taught her about making natural medicine from the native plants.
She also learned about the local wildlife and became adept at indigenous crafts, as she began drawing (especially animals) at age five. From her mother of Italian descent, she learned traditional women’s handicraft, including sewing and crochet. Today, although Marli has professional experience working in a surgical center helping both pediatric and geriatric patients, assisting with childbirth and practicing psychiatry, her love of creating art is still with her. She now makes mixed-media artwork, combining oil and acrylic paint, spray paint, watercolor and mosaic in her textural and whimsical work. Her motto: “Never stop learning, never stop teaching.” |
